This pack of two 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles depicts two famous paintings by the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. The first puzzle is Girl with a Pearl Earring, also known as Girl with a Turban, one of Vermeer's masterpieces, painted between 1665 and 1667. As the name suggests, it uses a pearl earring as its focal point. The girl's face is breathtaking; she seems to come alive on the canvas. The Girl with the Pearl Earring turns her face to look directly at us. She opens her mouth as if beginning a conversation, and her pale skin, along with her lips and the earring, shines brightly against the black background. The second puzzle is The Milkmaid. In the corner of a room illuminated by a window, a woman, probably a servant, is tending to the goat's milk in a jug set within an earthenware bowl resting on a table. On the table, in the foreground, are a wicker basket, several pieces of bread, and a bluish jug. The rest of the room is quite austere; almost bare, empty, and lonely. It contains little more than a simple basket hanging on one of the walls. The simple designs on the tiles in the background of the scene are a striking feature.
